I have contacts and calendar information in many different places:
- Outlook on my work computer
- Apple Mail and iCal on my home desktop and my home laptop
- In GMail and Google Calendar
- TripIt
- On my cell phone
- In PhoneTag (my voicemail transcription service)
- IM clients
- iPod
Most of these systems offer some sort of import/export capabilities using CSV and various [v/i][cal/card] formats, but they all somehow envision themselves at the center of my calendar and contact universe. I would love for them all to synchronize automatically from a centralized store that I specify. But in the meantime, I can’t even get these stupid services to have a decent “merge contacts” functionality for duplicate contacts with slightly different data.
