I have contacts and calendar information in many different places:

Outlook on my work computer
Apple Mail and iCal on my home desktop and my home laptop
In GMail and Google Calendar
TripIt
On my cell phone
In PhoneTag (my voicemail transcription service)
IM clients
Facebook
iPod

Most of these systems offer some sort of import/export capabilities using CSV and various [v/i][cal/card] formats, but they all somehow envision themselves at the center of my calendar and contact universe. I would love for them all to synchronize automatically from a centralized store that I specify. But in the meantime, I can’t even get these stupid services to have a decent “merge contacts” functionality for duplicate contacts with slightly different data.

Lame.
